For McAllen, Texas, one man’s abandoned Walmart is another’s public library. It is the largest single-story public library in the country, at a size about equal to 2.5 football fields.

New York sees a few of its old phone booths turned into libraries in a project by John Locke, an architecture grad from Colombia. Says Locke, “What more can you say about books? They’re the greatest things ever, and everyone should have more.”
The idea of guerrilla libraries is awesome. Also, I dig that the abbreviation for this dude’s imaginary “Department of Urban Betterment” is “DUB” (see photos).
